Ways to Pay

The minimum requirement for a Private Pilot License (PPL) is 40 hours of combined flight and ground instruction, as per FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 61.109).

Note that inconsistent study habits or lack of preparation outside lessons may require additional hours.

Standard

Option 1: Pay as You Go

Aircraft Rental

$225/hour (based on tachometer time)

Instructor Fee

$75/hour (applies to ground & dual flight)

Estimated Cost for Minimum 40 Hours

  • 40 hrs flight time: 40 × $225 = $9,000
  • 40 hrs ground instruction: 40 × $75 = $3,000
  • Total Estimated: $12,000

* Costs may increase if more than 40 hours are needed.

Option 2: Private Pilot Package

Saves $1,750 compared to Pay as You Go

Part A: Instruction

30 hours dual flight instruction and 40 hours ground or dual instruction with a KLA instructor.

* Solo flight time incurs a 9.25% sales tax, separated to reduce overall costs.

Part C: Fuel Surcharge
